Police rescues nine of ten abducted members of Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria

Operatives of Anambra state police command has rescued nine out of ten abducted members of the Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).

This was confirmed in a statement by command spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday, April 25, 2022.

The South-east Chairman of MACBAN, Gidado Siddiki, had raised an alarm that 10 of their members were abducted by gunmen in Obene Community, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The gunmen, who also stole over 300 cows, had demanded N4 million ransom and a gun from the families of the victims.

Ikenga said the victims were rescued in a joint operation with the military on Sunday, April 24, stating that the 9 rescued victims were found in the bush unharmed and some of the stolen cows were also discovered in the bush. 

He further said efforts were being intensified to locate the missing herder and some of the cows that are yet to be found.
