Police rescues farmers kidnapped by armed bandits in Niger state


Operatives of Niger state police command has rescued some farmers who were kidnapped by armed bandits on April 20, 2022.

Command spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed that the bandits attacked attacked Galiwi village, via Sarkin-pawa Munya LGA and kidnapped some farmers who were working on their farms numbering about thirteen

Police tactical teams attached to Sarkin-pawa Division were immediately mobilised to the area where the bandits were engaged in a fierce gun battle and were repelled, as a result of the firing power of the tactical teams; the victims were abandoned by the hoodlums and they were immediately rescued unhurt as the bandits fled into the forest.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention and later reunited with their families.

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command. CP Monday Bala Kuryas, assured citizens of the state that the command will not rest on its oars until crime and criminality are eradicated and reduced to barest minimum in the state.
