Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike has stated that he is the strong, courageous and productive leader which Nigeria needs to rescue it.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by special assistant media to the governor, Kelvin Ebiri disclosing that the governor stated this, speaking with journalists on Friday, April 30, after he had appeared before the presidential screening committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party's national secretariat in Abuja.
Wike reiterated that his main objective is to tackle insecurity which has almost paralyzed the country, stating that nothing can be achieved if the insecurities of the country are not tackled.
He told members of the screening committee that he believes that if you reduce the situation of insecurity to a level where people are happy then you can talk about the economy, making it impossible to talk about the economy without talking about the environment being safe
Wike said before government can effectively focus on boosting agriculture in order to ensure food sufficiency for the citizenry, confidence must be restored among farmers so that they can return to the farms without the fear of being maimed.
"You cannot talk about improving agriculture when people cannot go to the farm. So, everything revolves around security and that requires also a strong leadership. That also requires a courageous leadership and that is what I have," he said.
