Court sentence two convicts to 12 months imprisonment without option of fine for human trafficking


A federal high court sitting in Katsina, on April 5, sentenced two convicts to serve 12 months in correctional center without option of fine. 

The convicts: Salmanu Sani aged 41 and Mukhtari Magaji aged 30, were convicted for conniving and attempting to facilitate the fraudulent entry of two female victims from Ondo state and Ogun state, to go to Libya through Kano and Katsina state.

The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) secured the conviction of the two men, disclosing the total number of convictions from January 1 - till date, amounted to thirteen (13).

A breakdown of convictions by states includes: Katsina 5, Kano 4, Abuja 2, Lagos 2.
