President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated French President Emmanuel Macron on winning a second term in office.
He praised Macron on his leadership style, as well as his renewed interest in politics and governance, in France and beyond, stating that he noted the warmth and friendliness that has redefined Nigeria—France relations since Macron assumed office in 2017.
Buhari said Macron paid an official visit to Nigeria in 2018, and has consistently created opportunities for improved ties in economy, culture and security, culminating in the France-Nigeria Business Council, the African Cultures Season in 2020, and the France-Africa Summit.
He once again congratulated the president, his wife Brigitte Macron, friends and political associates on this historic feat, assuring President Macron of Nigeria’s support as he continues with his advocacy of humanizing policies, promoting peace and stability, and encouraging development through innovation.
"I wish him God’s guidance and wisdom for a second term in office," he added.
