67-year-old man stopped from jumping into Lagos lagoon on his birthday


Operatives of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, has stopped a 67-year-old from committing suicide by jumping into the Lagos lagoon inward Lagos Island. 

It was reported that the man was stopped by the officers on patrol of 3rd Mainland bridge, during the afternoon hour, on April 5, 2022.

The man, who gave his name as Oluwatoye Bamgboye, from Oju-Ore, Ogun state, revealed that today was his birthday, and a personal challenge made him want to end his life. 

He said he had sold his house, land, car, got a loan but yet the problem still persisted. He explained further that, he secured a job and on the resumption date, he was informed that the job had been given to someone else.

"Today being my birthday, I have decided to end it all. The burden and the frustration is too much for me to bear. My wife has abandoned me in the process," he said 

Bamgboye has been conveyed to Adekunle Police Station, where efforts are in progress to contact his family members.
