1 dead, 3 vehicles burnt by fire at Ajegunle, Lagos


The Lagos state fire and rescue service has put out the fire which occurred at Ajegunle via Toll Gate Bus stop, Abeokuta expressway, Lagos. 

Director, LFRS, Adeseye Margaret revealed that the fire outbreak resulted from the spillage of premium motor spirit from a 45,000 capacity tanker, which was trying to negotiate a bend along the highway to service Ayinde Oil Petrol Filling Station. 

She said the spillage spread through some makeshift structures on the roadside and attracted residents who risked their lives to scoop the PMS with containers of various types resulting in the ensuing Fire.

While warning those involved in the nefarious act to desist, Margaret said the situation was brought under control by the Agege, Ikeja and Alausa Fire Fighting crews of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

She revealed that a body of a male adult and three vehicles were recovered from the scene of the inferno. Shops along the axis were also affected by the fire.
