Operatives of Katsina state police command has arrested two suspected bandits in connection to the kidnap and murder of one Umar Abdullahi Ankalele.
Command spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah disclosed that on March 1, bandits numbering seven armed with AK 47 rifles, had attacked the residence of Umar aged 30 years, along Dogon Awo feeder road, Faskari LGA of Katsina state and kidnapped him. In the process of taking him away, the victim resisted and refused to follow the kidnappers. Consequently, the kidnappers shot and killed him.
During the course of investigation, the suspects Nasiru Mohd aged 27 years and Abubakar Iliyasu aged 25, both of Faskari LGA were arrested and confessed to the crime.
They further confessed that seven (7) of them, under the leadership of one “YELLOW”, a notorious bandit, went to the house to kidnap the said Umar Abdullahi, but when he refused to follow them, one Abdullahi Iliya, ‘M’, aged 30yrs, a member of the syndicate, shot and killed him with AK 47 rifle. Subsequently, the ring leader, who was not happy with the action of the said Abudullahi Iliya, also shot and killed him.
Iliyasu also confessed that late suspect Abdullahi Iliya is his blood brother and have participated in several banditry-related crimes within the area. Suspects mentioned the following bandits as their accomplices, who participated in the commission of the offence: (1) Yellow (2) Samaila (3) Ibrahim and (4) Sani all of Yankara, Dajin Yar-Malamai, Faskari LGA. Efforts is on with a view to arresting them. Investigation is ongoing.
