The federal government of Nigeria has confirmed that chartered flights will depart on March 2, to pick up Nigerian evacuees in neighboring countries surrounding Ukraine.
A statement signed by Permanent secretary, ministry of foreign affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda disclosed that the chattered flights will be bringing Nigerian evacuees back home.
He said that the ministry has the following records of evacuees received by Nigerian embassies at: Hungary (650 persons), Poland (350 persons), Romania (940 persons) and Slovakia (150 persons).
Aduda stated that the capacity and route of the airlines are as follows: Max Air to Romania (560 persons), Airpeace to Poland (364 persons) and Airpeace to Hungary (360 persons).
While assuring Nigerians that the ministry is working round the clock to see Nigerians are brought back home safely, the PS said the first batch of evacuees are expected to arrive Nigeria on Thursday, March 3, 2022.
