Delta state government has closed down Arise and Shine nursery and primary school, where a 19-month old child allegedly died after being flogged 31 strokes of cane.
The government shut down the primary school which is located Asaba Oshimili south LGA of the state, following the death of Obinna Udeze who flogged by his teacher.
It was gathered that Obinna died from injuries he sustained from the teacher, Emeka Nwogbo, last Monday, after struggling for his life. Obinna was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where he died on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Reacting to the incident, state Commissioner for primary education, Hon. Chika Ossai presided over the sealing of the school, and noted that investigations showed that the school was not approved by the state government.
The proprietress of the school and her son who was involved in the alleged crime has been arrested. Investigation is still ongoing.
