Following the death of a 19-month child that was flogged by his teacher leading to his death, life coach Toyin Abiola has stated that teachers should be banned from beating any child.
She noted this on her Instagram page, stating that the education board of Nigeria and the law teachers should be prohibited from hitting any child irrespective of their offense, and failure to adhere to the law such teacher should be fined or jailed.
Toyin wrote, "With the recent issue of an 18 months old child that was flogged to death in Delta state, and so many stories of children being physically abused by their teachers all in the name of disciplining them.
"I believe that the education board of Nigeria and the law should prohibit any teacher from hitting any child, irrespective of their offense. Failure to adhere to the stipulated law by the teacher should attract fines and jail terms.
"There are better ways to discipline that excludes beating a child who you believe was unruly. The school should be safe for every child. Who on earth can comfort that woman who lost her son? This is really sad.
"The country should take a stand to protect children from all round brutality. May God help us all."
