7 suspected trafficked girls returned to Nigeria by Togolese border patrol


NAPTIP Lagos command has received seven girls between the age of 18 and 20 who were lured to Togo on the invitation of a cousin of one of the victims. 

The girls, who were all recruited from Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, were returned to the country by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Lome-Togo, after they were intercepted by Togolese border patrol at the Hilancondji border, Togo. 

The Command has commenced prompt investigations into the cases to bring the suspected traffickers to book if found culpable of the crime.

The Zonal Commander, NAPTIP Lagos Command, Mr. Aganran Ganiu Alao described the continuous vulnerability and weakness of young Nigerians, especially girls; to the lure and false promises of human traffickers and calls on parents to take more interest in the activities of their children.
