British prime minister, Boris Johnson has stated how Britain were able to come out stronger during and after the COVID-19 pandemic that sent the world into a lockdown.
He noted that Britain was the first nation in the world to administer a vaccine and also to roll it out because they made the decision to pursue their own vaccine procurement outside of the EMA.
On coming out of lockdown, Boris stated that the country made the tough decision despite being warned not to, and are currently the most open economy and society in Europe with the fastest growing economy.
He said the country were the first to emerge from the Omicron wave because they focused on their NHS on delivering the fastest booster campaign in Europe, and it is because of the extraordinary booster campaign – together with the way the public have responded to the Plan B measures – that we can return to Plan A in England and allow Plan B regulations to expire.
Boris commended the British government for doing the right things when faced by the nation's biggest challenge since the Second World War and the worst pandemic since 1918.
