UAE suspends entry flights for travelers from Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has suspended entry flights for travelers and transit passengers from Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

This was disclosed by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Emergency Management Authority (NECDEMA), on Thursday, December 23, 2021.

The Authority revealed that the decision to suspend entry flights from these countries was due to the concerns of Omicron and a spike in COVID-19 cases, stating that the suspended entry flights would take effect from Saturday, December 25, 2021.

However, flight operations will continue to transport passengers from the UAE to the suspended countries.

NECDEMA disclosed that first degree relatives, diplomatic missions, golden residence holders and officials delegations are exempted from the decision.

The excluded categories would present PCR test within 48 hours of departure, Rapid-PCR test in the airport with six hours of departure, PCR test at the airport upon arrival in the UAE and 10-day quarantine and a PCR test on the nineth day of entering the UAE required for UAE nationals, their relatives and domestic worker in their sponsorship, diplomatic missions and golden visa holders.

The Authority announced that travelers coming from these countries through other counties should have a proof of stay in those countries for a period of stay of no less than 14 days.

Also, UAE citizens are prohibited from traveling to the Republic of Congo, with the exemption of official delegations, medical emergency treatment cases, and students on educational sponsorship.
