The Kano state police command has arrested a suspected fake soldier who specializes in extorting tricycle operators by presenting himself as a military personnel.
This was revealed by Command, police public relations officer, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealing that the suspect, Abubakar Zailani Ibrahim aged 27, on November 30, arrrested a tricylist and took him to Rijiyar Zaki Police Station Kano, claiming that, some weeks ago, the said Tricyclist made away with his Military Uniform and other valuables amounting to the sum of one hundred and ninety five thousand naira (N195,000).
Receiving the report, Commissioner of police, Kano state command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko directed the divisional police officer, CSP Usman Abdullahi to investigate into the case, which revealed that the complainant (suspect) is not a military personnel and the claim was found to be untrue.
Upon investigation, the suspect confessed to specialize in using the same tactics to exhort tricycle operators within the state by presenting himself as a Military personnel, and that he stole the suspected Camouflage Uniform from the room of his friend in Dutse, Jigawa State. He further confessed to have hailed from Adamawa and came to Kano purposely for this criminal acts. However, investigation has commenced.
CP Dikko warned that criminals will have no hiding place in the state, as they will face the wrath of the law if they do not repent or leave the state completely.
