Police arrests suspected armed robber, recovers stolen items in Ekiti state


Police operatives has arrested a suspected armed robber, Alaba Akinlade, in Ekiti state. 

This was made known by command, police public relations officer, ASP Abutu Sunday, stating that a report was made by one Babafemi Jide of Odo-Oro, Ado-Ekiti, that an unknown person had broken into  his home on December 22, 2021, and stole one plasma television set, one photocopy/printing machine, one video recording camera, one stabilizer, one tiger generator and a sack containing raw rice. 

On receiving the report, the command's Rapid Response Squad (RRS) swung into action and arrested the said suspect in connection with the crime. 

During interrogation, Akinlade confessed to have stolen the items, adding that he is a member of a gang of armed robbers that comprises two others who are currently at large. 

ASP Sunday stated that all the looted items were recovered from the suspect while effort intensified by the RRS Operatives led them to their hideout along Afao Road, Ado-Ekiti where three pump action guns, one Beretta pistol and forty-one live cartridges, were recovered. 

Investigations also revealed that the suspect is an ex-convict who was just released from Nigeria Correctional Center, Ado-Ekiti. Effort is still ongoing to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects. 

Ekiti state commissioner of police, CP Tunde Mobayo stated that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.. 

He implored everyone to be law-abiding citizens and report all forms of criminal activities observed in their environs to security agents.
