Operatives of Delta state police command has arrested an 18-year-old suspected armed robber, Mamus Obine, on December 21, 2021.
Spokesperson of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe stated that the suspect was intercepted by the officer during a routine stop and search along Ughelli/Warri road.
He said that the suspect who was on a bike, on sighting the police ran into a nearby bush. He was given a hot chase and the unrelenting efforts of the police led to the arrest of the suspect, who hails from Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA, Delta state.
Upon searching the bag the suspect was carrying, one (1) locally made double barrel pistol and ten (10) live cartridges were recovered.
Preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect operate with two other suspects namely Austin and Thankgod ( both surnames unknown). The suspect confessed that he was after one Kingsley whom he had issues of money sharing with after he defrauded his victim of the sum Eight Hundred thousand naira (#800,000) from internet fraud and that he was about going to attack the said Kingsley with the gun when the police intercepted and arrested him.
DSP Edafe stated that investigation is on while manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing.
