Minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Farouq has sympathised with popular shopping complex Next Cash and Carry, Abuja, over the fire incident that occurred on December 26, 2021.
In a statement issued by special assistant on media, Nneka Anibeze, the minister expressed sympathy for the loss of goods worth millions of naira and has since directed the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA to help in rescue operations to salvage some of the items on the day of the inferno.
While stating that the fire incident that occurred that the complex was unfortunate, he urged shop owners, traders and market dwellers to be more vigilant and endeavour to switch off all appliances before leaving their shops and market.
The Shopping complex which caught fire in the night of Christmas Day was said to have been caused by an electrical malfunction.
