Governor of Borno state, H. E. Umaru Zulum has paid visit to the 1,000 units housing estate, which was hit by a rocket launcher suspected to have been fired by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, in Maiduguri.
He expressed worries on the attack, and called on the military to put in more effort and surveillance in checkmating this kind of problem, saying,.
It is very sad and unfortunate that this kind of attack and others are happening at this time. It seems the insurgents came very close to Maiduguri. Our military have to wake up and ensure adequate surveillance. This is something we should be able to avert. For the insurgents to have come so close to fire rockets, I think there is something wrong that we have to check.
The governor called on the military to ensure adequate patrol on daily basis to avert future attack, adding that the state military will be fortified.
He said that he would be setting up a committee to assess damages inflicted and advise government on measures to take to prevent future occurrence.
Although nothing life was lost, the explosive hit a house in the estate causing serious commotion around Ngomari Airport, Njimtilo and Shuwari village which are near the estate.
Governor Zulum commisserated with all those affected by the attack.
