Lagos RRS officers arrests teenage traffic robber for the third time

This is the third time teenage traffic robber, Sodiq Abubakar, aged 18, has been arrested by Lagos state Rapid Response Squad (RSS).

Abubakar, who was arrested on Friday, December 10, confessed to have gone into robbery again to raise fund to offset the debt he incurred after his release from prison four weeks ago.

He narrated that he borrowed money shortly after his release from prison to procure drugs, but his creditors became too persistent, which resorted him into traffic robbery.

The RRS arrested Abubakar in Ketu shortly after using unidentified object to threaten a motorist, and thereafter dispossessed him of his N7,000 in the traffic. Although he was working with an accomplice identified as Ahmadu, now at large.

Abubakar stated they threatened to smash the side glass of their victim if he failed to release the money in his pockets, which he was given and they afterwards shared the money immediately.

According to him, he met Ahmadu at Otedola bridge and they decided to rob in traffic.

Luckily, for their victim he was able to alert RRS officers close to the scene, which led to the arrest of Abubakar, while Ahmadu escaped.

Lagos state Commissioner of police, CP Hakeem Odumosu order that Abubakar be charged to court.
