Governor Tambuwal orders arrest of singer Mohammed Danshawa for praising bandit leader, Bello Turji, in a song

Sokoto state Governor Waziri Tambuwal has ordered the arrest of singer Mohammed Danshawa for praising a popular bandit leader, Bello Turji, in a song.

In the 14-minute song, Danshawa praised the bandit leader, describing him as a lion, untouchable and a great leader.

Governor Tambuwal said, "We ordered for his arrest to serve as a deterrent to others.

“This further informs why I advised that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to consider the best strategy to handle the insecurity situation because in those places where there are security challenges, the inhabitants are willing to be trained on weapons handling.”

He gave the arrest order of the musician 3-days after the song was posted on social media.

This is coming after Governor Tambuwal had advised President Buhari to recruit and train local citizens from areas where banditry and other forms of criminalities are preponderant as special forces.

Bello Turji is the leader of bandit groups terrorising communities in Sokoto, Zamfara and parts of Niger Republic.
