Buhari affirms to vacate office when tenure ends


President Muhammadu Buhari has affirmed that he would be vacating office when his tenure comes to an end. 

He said that the remaining 17 months of his tenure would be completely used in doing their best for the betterment of Nigeria and its people. 

The president stated this during an official visit to Borno state, where he commissioned a number of infrastructure projects by the state government. He also paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El Kanemi. 

According to him, Governor Zulum and the Shehu of Borno informed him that the people of the state are enjoying the gradual return of peace to their state, which has enabled many to return to their homes, farms and communities. 

Buhari thanked the military and other security agencies for the progress seen so far in the region. 

"We owe a debt of gratitude to our gallant and determined military and other security agencies for the progress seen so far in the region. 

"Let me also specially commend Prof. Zulum for the remarkable work he had done in the last two years. Earlier this year I was also in Borno to commission developmental projects. I am very very pleased to see the massive rebuilding and restoration going on in Borno," he said. 

Buhari stated that the country has made great gains in the fight against terrorism, and created the environment for peace and development to return, adding that more efforts will be given in other to ensure that terrorism is a thing of the past in Nigeria.
