Police arrests suspected serial rapist, ATM snatcher, recovers car from hoodlums in Delta state


Officers of the Delta state police command has arrested one Ayuba Adavo on the charges of rape, on November 8, 2021.

A statement by command public relations officer, DSP Edafe Bright, revealed that Adavo was arrested after one of his female victim, who he forcefully dragged into his room and threatened to shoot her with locally made cut to size gun, had reported the incident to the Force. 

She narrated that after Adavo had had carnal knowledge of her, he fell deeply in sleep, and she sneaked out and ran to Sapele division where she reported the case. 

A patrol team was drafted to the scene and the suspect was arrested with one locally cut to size gun and one live cartridge were recovered from him.

In another incident on November 7, 2021, the Patrol team attaches to Sapele Division chased down a suspicious Toyota camry spider car with NO. GRA 291 RL to Olympia area.


On noticing that they were being chased by the police, the hoodlums opened fire on the team which was replied by the police.

However, the hoodlums couldn't stand the firepower of the police, abandoned the said car and flee into the bush. 

Upon searching the vehicle, one locally made double barrel pistol and five live cartridges were recovered. 

On November 2, 2021, the command also arrested one Ojo Amos 'm' aged 38yrs of Agbara- Otor, Ughelli North LGA  who specializes in stealing ATM cards from unsuspecting victims.


Upon his arrest, the Force recovered 33 ATM cards and a cash sum of fifty thousand naira from him. 

Amos confessed that he stole one of the cards  from one Rufai Abdulahi  at zenith bank, Kwale branch and  left immediately. He said he later withdrew the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000) from the victim account. 

Preliminary investigations later revealed that the suspect usually stays behind his victims at the ATM machine waiting and targeting people who he feels are not too educated, old women/children and once he notice that they are having problem operating the ATM machine, he moves closer to them  pretending to be a  bank staff trying to help them and in the process he swaps the  ATM card. 

Suspect also confessed that he  watches them as they enter their ATM pins, memorizes it and after swapping the ATM cards, he uses either a POS stand or ATM machine to empty their bank accounts. He said he has been doing this for the past four years.

CP Ari Muhammad urged members of the public to desist from crime and also for them to be vigilant when making use of their ATM cards and ensure that only uniform bank staff be allowed to assist them when the need arises.
