The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) has reacted to a story making rounds online that the Old Yaba road, Ebute-Metta was on fire.
A statement by the director, LFRS, Margaret Adeseye, stated that the story was already stale, and the LFRS had put out the fire the same day.
The statement in full,
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is categorically stating that the Fire outbreak making the rounds at 38, Old Yaba Road, Ebute Meta happened on Saturday, 13th November, 2021 and was reported at 1729 hours and has since been put out on same day by 1921 hours.
The Fire was however confined to the topmost floor of the 2 storey building where it started from as the Lagos State Firemen saved the other floors and adjoining buildings with no record of injury nor death.
The Video making the rounds was uploaded at 1734 hours (see attached screen munch) same Saturday and as such could not be a new incident circulating on social media.
However, we employ Lagosians to go about their legitimate businesses as the video trending on the above stated Fire outbreak is stale
