NAPTIP arrests two suspected child traffickers, reunites children with families


Officers of the NAPTIP zonal command of Makurdi has arrested a woman in Makurdi-Benue state enroute Calabar in company of 2 children who she claimed to have paid N70,000 each to adopt them from an orphanage in Jos. 

Upon investigation, It was discovered that she got the children from an illegal orphanage named "The Lord's Fellowship International" behind ECWA Church, Gurandok area, Jos, which is owned by one Mr. Monday Daman. 

The Agency revealed that the orphanage had been closed down. 


NAPTIP commander, Gloria Bai in a statement, said investigation reveals that the suspect Mr. Monday Daman goes to different villages in states in crisis situations , like Adamawa,  Borno , Taraba , Plateau to deceives the families  that he is bringing them to put them in school while he gives them out to other people on demand.

It was reported that the illegal orphanage operated in a 3 bedroom rented apartment, and the Agency had found about 67 adults and children in the facility. 

NAPTIP revealed that the apartment has been sealed while some of the members of the families of the children has been traced and the reunited. 

It added that some of the children have been handed over to the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs. 

The suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
