IGP Alkali orders investigation into invasion of Justice Mary Odili residence


Nigerian Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali has ordered detailed investigations into the reported invasion of the Abuja residence of Justice Mary Odili, an incident that occurred on Friday, 29th October, 2021.

A statement by the Force public relations officer, CP Frank Mba, stated that the IGP noted that the leadership of the Force is not aware and didn't at any time order police operatives to carry out such assignment. 

IGP Alkali described the reported violation on the residence of the Justice of the Supreme Court as unfortunate and unacceptable. 

The IGP directed the Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) to conduct investigations into the incident, and assured the commitment of the Force to the safety and security of the members of the Judiciary and Nigerians in general. 

He also called for calm, promising that they Force will do all within its powers to unravel the perpetrators and motives behind the incident and bring all indicted person to book. 

Meanwhile, IGP Alkali directed the commissioner of police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to strengthen security and residence of Justice Odili, so as to ensure her safety and prevent a re-occurrence of the unfortunate incident. 

He assured that the details of investigations will be made public after conclusion of investigations.
