'I have no connection, involvement and ownership of Ikoyi collapsed building', VP Yemi Osibanjo says


Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo has stated that he doesn't own or have any relation with the collapsed Ikoyi building. 

The VP while condoling with the families for their loss of their loved ones, stated that he doesn't own, has never owned and never been involved in the said land. or any other land since he became Vice President. 

His statement in full, 

I am saddened by the events that occurred in Lagos on Monday, 1st of November, 2021, where a high-rise building under construction on Gerrard road, Ikoyi, collapsed: a horrible tragedy. 

I condole with the families, and relatives of all those who have died, were injured or affected in this collapse. 

Let it be made absolutely clear that I do not own and has never owned the said land. I have never been involved, in any shape or form, in the development of this or any other land since I became Vice President. 

At no time whatsoever did I buy this or any other place or land from Chief Michael Ade. Ojo, or entered into any transaction for the sake of that land or any other piece I'd land from Chief Ade. Ojo or anyone for that matter. 

All my property and assets have been publicly declared. 

I have never spoken to the Governor of Lagos state or any other official of the State Government regarding the unsealing of the said building on Gerrard road, Ikoyi, which subsequently collapsed. 

I have never acted to influence any other regulatory action on the collapsed building, or any other building for that matter, in Lagos state. 

To restate categorically, I have no interest whatsoever, and has never had any interest, either legally privileged beneficially in the land, the building or development. 

All property and assets owned by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo have been publicly declared. 

Hence, let it be made absolutely clear that he does not own and have never owned the said land where a high-rise building under construction on Gerrard road, Ikoyi, collapsed on Monday, 1st of November, 2021, in Lagos.
