Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has visited the site of the collapsed building on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, to inspect the level of work being done in the ongoing rescue operations.
He thanked the first responder and all who have joined the rescue efforts, noting that a help desk has been set up at the site for people seeking information about their relations who may have been involved in the incident.
The governor sympathised with families who have lost their loved ones, praying that their souls rest in peace.
He stated that an independent panel will be set up to probe and investigate the remote and immediate causes of the incident and also to make recommendations on how to prevent future occurrence.
Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the state is already conducting an internal probe to find out what went wrong and punish those indicted.
He added that there will be no cover up in the search for truth in the incident, warning that if anyone is found to be indicted, he or she will definitely face the law.
