Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has inaugurated members of the investigation tribunal that will conduct an inquiry into the misconduct responsible for the collapse of the 21-storey building in Ikoyi, Lagos.
He said that to underscore the importance of the assignment, he signed the instrument legitimising the composition of the panel and empowering the tribunal to summon anyone and any organization useful to the investigation.
The governor explained that though investigations into the matter won't bring back the lives lost, but it would help prevent a reoccuence of such tragic event and the people deserve to know what went wrong.
According to him, The inauguration of the panel shows sincerely that the State Government is interested in unraveling and getting to the root cause of what happened, so that everyone concerned, including the Government, will learn from the very unfortunate incident.
Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the panel a 4-weeks mandate to complete its investigations, adding that the public are keenly waiting with the full expectation that the immediate and remote causes of the tragedy will be uncovered.
