Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 13, AIG Muri Musa has approved the dissmal and prosecution of a police inspector for the offence of murder.
The police inspector, Edem Ebong, was alleged to have shoot and killed five persons, as well as injured four others for no justifiable reasons, at Golf Estate Enugu, on June 20, 2021.
AIG Musa approved the dismissal and prosecution of Inspector Ebong after disciplinary trail and thorough investigation launched into the case.
This was disclosed by Enugu command, police public relations officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, revealing that Commissioner of police, CP Abubakar Lawal thanked the general public, particularly residents of the state, for their patience and understanding shown while the trail and investigation into the case lasted.
He restated commitment to always deal decisively with police officers of the command, found culpable in disciplinary offences against extant codes of conduct, rules of engagement and standard operating procedures of the Nigeria Police Force, especially as it concerns respect for fundamental human rights of citizens.
CP Lawal also called on residents to remain law abiding and report erring police officers to the nearest police station.
