Niger state commissioner of education, Hajiya Hannatu Jibrin Salihu has received the award as the best commissioner of education in North central, Nigeria.
She received the award, while attending the 2021 democracy day anniversary of president's inter-school secondary schools national debate championship finals and award ceremony organised by president's school debate, Nigeria at NUC hall, Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement by State ministry of education, information officer, Jibrin Usman Kodo, revealing that the state students' who represented the state at the competition emerged 2nd position.
The Commissioner was elated with the double feats typifying the strong institutional transformation in the Education sector going on under the administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
She said, "I thank the organizers for this laudable initiative and also thank My Boss, His Excellency Alh. Dr. Abubakar Sani Bello for finding me worthy to drive the vision of the Education sector to a greater height, to our participants, we are proud of you, you have courageously done well. I dedicate this award to every Nigerian child in the classroom".
The President's Inter-Senior Secondary Schools Debate is an annual event for Secondary Schools Students of Secondary Schools in Nigeria, in Collaboration with Federal Ministry Of Education to develope the intellectual capacity of the Students and pick the best out of them to represent the Country at the International level
Six States Participated in the competition from the beginning and two States, Niger and Nasarawa made it to the Finals and in the end Team Niger State emerged Second position.
However, at the end of the debate and presentation of prizes, the Commissioner was recognised with the best Commissioner of Education, North Central Geo-political Zone Award by President's School Debate, Nigeria in Collaboration with Federal Ministry Of Education and Center for Human Security in Abuja.
The commissioner was recognized with the Award alongside the Former Speaker House Representative Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, Chairman House Committee on Education, Commissioner Of Education Ekiti State among others.
