Ghana police service has revealed that the remains of the two police officers who lost their lives in the fatal accident along the Walewale-Bolgatanga road were airlifted to Accra, on Friday, October 22, 2021.
This was disclosed in a statement by signed by AG. Director General, Public Affairs, Assistant commissioner of police, Kwesi Ofori, stating that the Force held a special ceremony and police parade at the Tamale Airport in Northern Region before they were brought to Accra.
The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and other senior officers took part in the exercise.
At Accra, the bodies were received by members of the Police Management Board, led by the director general administration, COP Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno and other senior police officers together with the bereaved families at the Airforce Base.
Also, three injured officers were airlifted in the morning of the same day to Accra for further medical care.
The police administration is thankful to the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly, the Chief of Defense Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Frank Hanson, for facilitating the airlifting of the deceased and injured police officers.
It also thanked the doctors and nurses at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Walewale Government Hospital and the Police hospital in Accra for their immense support.
The police administration expressed thanks to the people of Ghana and beyond for their sympathises.
