British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has stated that UK vaccine programme has prevented over 24 million infections and 112,300 deaths.
He noted that vaccines remain the first line of the country's defence in the fight against COVID-19, and their new programme allows them to live with the virus without significant restrictions on freedom.
The PM said that booster jabs will be offered to those in priority groups 1-9 to increase immunity among the most vulnerable, adding that they will continue to identify and isolate positive cases to limit transmission, and advise people on how to protect themselves and others.
He said that the NHS will continue to get the support it needs, with an extra £5.4 billion Euro in England for the next six months alone, which is in addition to £36 billion Euro over the next three years.
Boris stated that Britain are helping to vaccinate the world with 100 million doses for developing countries by the next June, noting that it is difficult to predict the path of the virus, which has led them to create a Plan B for the protection of the NHS if necessary.
He cautioned that public of the risk of the virus, and assured that the virus can be fought off. He also encouraged anyone who has yet to have a vaccine to do so.
