Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare has stated that the glory and future of Nigeria success in sports is in the youth.
The Minister said this, while speaking at the end of Sapetro Future Tennis Championships which was held at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Court.
He expressed delight in a glorious future for Nigerian sports after watching the final of the championships, admitting belief that the focus of his ministry on grassroots sports development was not misplaced.
Dare noted that grassroot sports development was important, and as such would be attending tournaments of this nature that have very young people, saying,
As we speak, under our Talent Hunt programme, we have almost a dozen young people between the ages of 8-12. I have seen some of them in action today and was really impressed and happy with them and they will very soon start a programme working through the federations
Dare mentioned that two or three most outstanding talents in the championships will join the Talent Hunt programme of the ministry.
