Delta state police command has arrested four suspected armed robbers for the theft of Dangote company truck.
The suspects identified as Ozioma Umez, Uchenna Idenyi, Chibuike Nwamgbo and Chiolada Nomha were arrested after the police had received a report from the driver of the truck, Bature Ibrahim, that on 31st August, 2021, while he was trying to park the truck with Registration. DAS. 690 ZY loaded with 900 bags of cement at Okpella in Edo state, four armed men came out from the bush dragged him and his conducted into the bush gave them several machete cuts and tied them with rope before making away with the truck.
State command public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement, revealing that on getting the report, the Illah divisional patrol team swung into action. They were able to locate the truck in Illah, where it was parked at Aniegele along Illah-Asaba road. The suspects on sighting the patrol vehicle took to their heels into the bush, but were however caught in a combined effort with the local vigilantes.
The police recovered two cutlasses from the suspects.
In another event on the same date, the Dragon 02 patrol team during a stop and search operation along Agbor/Asaba expressway by Issele-Uku intercepted one red colored Qlink Motorcycle with reg number LEG 326 QN conveying three occupants who upon sighting the patrol team abandoned the motorcycle and ran into the nearby bush.
The suspects were chased and one of them identified as Musa Kabiru aged 42 of Onitsha was arrested. Upon searching the suspect, one locally made pistol, one live cartridges and four mobile phones were recovered from him.
Owners of the phones have identified the phones as theirs, and also identified the suspect as one the hand who robbed them.
Commissioner of police Delta state command, CP Ari Muhammed advised residents of the state to be vigilant and to be security conscious.
