Plateau state government resolve agitation issue by polytechnic students, says no casualty was recorded

Following the drama that saw the staging of the agitation by students over the refusal to conduct examination by the academic staff as a result of strike to drive home labour demands, which led to disruption in the school. 

The students had caused traffic by blocking the highway; security personnel were sent to return normalcy but a clash ensued between the students and security personnel. 

Dan Manjang, commissioner of information and communication, Plateau state, disclosed in a statement, that contrary to the news making rounds on social media, nobody was killed but some students sustained injuries and have been taken to the hospital and are responding to treatment. 

Deputy governor of the state, H. E. Prof. Sonni Tyoden held a meeting with labour leaders of the polytechnic, executives of the student union government, management of the school and government officials. 

During the meeting, it was agreed that lecturers should allow academic activities to continue while negotiations go on between the unions and government over their demands. 

The government charged the students as well as staff to coordinate itself responsible while trying to press home their demands, and not try to disrupt peaceful co-existence in the state.
