UK secures return of 306 British nationals, resettle 2055 Afghans, completes resettlement applications for 2000, and deploy 900 troops to help evacuation operation

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has given an update on Afghanistan.

He disclosed that the UK has secured the return of 306 British nationals, as well as resettled 2,052 Afghan nationals. 

The PM noted that the country has completed resettlement applications for 2,000, with many more being processed, adding that 900 troops have been deployed to help the evacuation operation. 

Clintonsdaily earlier reported that UK has announced that Afghans are welcomed into Britain under resettlement schemes. 

Government of the UK on its official website, stated that it's ambition is for the new Afghanistan citizens' resettlement scheme to resettle 5,000 Afghan nationals who are at risk due to the current crisis, noting that priority will be given to women, girls and other minorities, who are most at risk of human rights abuses and dehumanising treatment by Taliban.
