President of the Republic of Niger, H. E. Mohammed Bazoum has awarded Borno state Governor Umaru Zulum with the country's second oder National Honour, "de Grand Officer dans I`Ordre". The award is second to "Grand Croix Des Ordre National Du Niger" which is the equivalent of GCFR, and only serving Presidents in Niger normally get the award in Niger Republic. President Bazoum stated that the honour was given to Zulum after monitoring his sincere fight against Boko Haram insurgents, deep concern on the plight of Borno's citizens taking refuge in parts of Niger Republic, which the governor had visited number of times, offering support and steadily evacuating and resettling the refugees in new houses built in Borno. Governor Zulum becomes the first governor in Nigeria to receive such award, and it is the first time a Nigerien president would honour a Nigerian governor with the country's second highest national award. He stated, in his remark, that the award wouldn't make him relent in his devotion towards the people of Borno state. Furthermore, Governor Zulum accompanied President Bazoum to commission 138km Zindar road project and the 22 mega watts power project.
