Governor of Plateau state, H. E. Bako Lalong has been briefed on the security situation in the state, as well as the level of implementation of the curfew imposed on Jos north, Jos south and Bassa LGAs, by state heads of security agencies. This was disclosed by director of press and public affairs to the governor, Makut Macham, stating that the heads of security agencies had a closed door meeting with the governor, which included the commander, operation safe haven and GOC 3rd armoured division, commissioner of police, Air Force commander and state director DSS. After the meeting, Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, briefing newsmen, said that the various heads of security agencies briefed the governor on the security situation, which he said was under control, noting that the imposition of the curfew had curtailed the spread of violence in the Jos metropolis where 7 persons were killed. He said that 36 persons were rescued unhurt, and people have been arrested and investigation currently ongoing. CP Egbuka stated that the attackers are miscreants and hoodlums who want to take advantage of the situation to cause trouble, adding that it is not the first time it has happened. He assured that the security agencies would ensure that the attackers are arrested, advising citizens to abide by the curfew and avoid violations.
