Government of Plateau state has debunked reports on social media showing luxurious buses on fire with the caption: "Plateau crises and genocide worsens as 2 luxurious buses conveying Igbos down East were set on fire with 156 passengers inside". This was revealed in a statement by director of press and public affairs to the governor, Makut Macham, stating that the incident never happened, and it is the handiwork of crisis merchants and mischief makers who are bent on causing panic and instigate violence in the people. The government stated that the security situation in the state is under control as security personnel have been deployed to all parts of Jos to enforce the 24 hour curfew still in force, as well as to ensure compliance with the dusk to dawn curfew in Jos south and Bassa LGAs. Governor Bako Lalong directed security agencies to track down those involved in the fake information, and advised the public to desist from sharing such fake information as it can lead to unpleasant consequences for innocent persons.
