NYSC debunks report of 109 Corps members testing positive for COVID-19

Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked media reports stating that 109 Corps members in NYSC camp has tested positive for COVID-19.

The management stated that such reports are misleading as no there is no COVID-19 positive Corps member in any of the 37 NYSC orientation camps nationwide.

It stated that before any prospective Corps member is admitted into the 37 camps, they undergo COVID-19 tests, adding that only those that test negative are admitted which is the same rule for camp officials, while those that test positive are handed over to NCDC for treatment and management.

The management explained that there is a difference between Corps members and a prospective Corps member, saying that one becomes a Corps member after admittance to the camp, registers and administered the Oath of National Allegiance.

It said that anyone mobilized for Service, but hasn't gone through the aforesaid process is not a Corps Member.

The management stressed that there is no red alert in the orientation Camps, as all Corps members as well as camp officials admitted in the camps are COVID-19 negative.
