NSCDC grants operational license to 24 private guard companies

Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi has presented operational license to 24 private guard companies that were successful after undergoing thorough screening to ascertain the eligibility of their applications as operators in the sector. 

This was disclosed by NSCDC director, public relations, DCC Olusola Odumosu, stating that the CG charged the companies to see the license as an opportunity to help stop crimes and security challenges in the country. 

Audi stated that the Corps has concluded arrangements to make available it's training facilities for the companies to leverage on for training, capacity building and manpower development of their staff.

While noting that the NSCDC is putting in measures to reposition and reform the private security sector in Nigeria in accordance with the enabling law and regulations; he charged them to work within the ambit of the law governing their operation, as any violations will result to seizure or revoke of their license or their operational bade sealed until the right procedure is followed. 

The NSCDC boss urged the operators to constantly communicate with the head of PGC of the Corps in their various base stations for guidance, training and regulations, adding that his administration is committed to run an open door system to create room for better collaboration and information sharing. 

He warned them against corrupt practices and not to succumb to any form of pressure or negative influence that may put the integrity of their companies in jeopardy.

Audi charged the operatives to make sure they are paid their salaries and all entitlements as and when due to avoid any form of compromise, emphasising that if security providers are not well remunerated, there is serious tendency for such guard to be easily lured with money or any juicy offer by criminals.

Speaking on behalf of the operators, Ambassador (General) Godwin George Umoh, chairman/CEO of Pareto Smartwork Nig. Ltd, commended the NSCDC boss for the speedy and transparent process in the screening exercise.

He added that their is need to incorporate technology to assist in the task of security management as human intelligence cannot be totally relied upon especially where manpower is grossly inadequate.
