Nine bandits killed in rival gang duel

Two different gang groups has gone head to head in a gun duel between each other in Giwa local government area, Kaduna state.

The gun duel led to the death of nine of the members, according to a statement signed by state commissioner, ministry of internal security and home affairs, Samuel Aruwan. 

The commissioner in the statement, revealed that the state government received the information from human intelligence networks, which was further corroborated by security agencies.

Part of the statement reads: "Intelligence sources had reported that a notorious bandit known as 'Godon Mota' stormed Garke village last Wednesday with his gang and clashed with a rival bandit group, leading to the killing of nine members. The cause of the fratricidal face-off is yet unclear, but was said to revolve around a disagreement over sharing of accumulated ransoms, during which one of the groups felt cheated.

Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe urged security agencies to sustain pressure towards the apprehending of criminal elements in the state.
