Nigerian Army ( NA) has put down an attempted dawn attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Damboa town. This was disclosed by director army public relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, revealing that the terrorists attack was prevented by troops of 25 task force brigade, operation HADIN KAI in the North East. The Army stated that the terrorists while attempting to infiltrate the town with unconfirmed numbers of foot soldiers and some mounted on motorcycles, were met with heavy volume of fire power from the troops, forcing them to retreat. During the attack, two vehicles belonging to the Civilian Joint Task Force were razed by fire. The troops were commenced of their vigilance and swift response in prevent the attack. They were also encouraged not allow any form of distraction from the terrorists. NA assured law abiding people of North East of the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya's determination to rout the terrorists from their hideouts, encouraging them to keep informing the troops with actionable information.
