Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has reopened Ladipo auto spare parts market in Mushin after substantial compliance with rules and regulations to keep the market environment clean. This was disclosed by head of public affairs of LAWMA, Hakeem Akinleye stating that the market was reopened, after the marketers had met the demands of the Authority. He stated that the leadership of the market had signed an undertaking to not breach any waste management laws and that if any violations of the signed undertaking, they would bear the laws of the state. Akinleye noted that the Authority would not condone any form of indiscriminate waste dumping and other environmental infractions, especially at market facilities across the state, stressing that such acts would have negative consequences on the environment and residents. He said that LAWMA would continue to monitor markets across the state, warning that they are ready to clamp down on errant shopping centers whose activities pose dangers to the environment. While appealing to residents of the state to keep the environment clean by bagging their wastes and patronizing assigned PSP operators, He added that the Authority are totally committed to make Lagos clean.
