LAWMA debunks report of workers earning N10,000 monthly

Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has debunked reports of its sweepers earning 10,000 naira monthly. 

The Authority in a statement, noted that there is no truth in the report allegedly attributed to one of the local government chairmen in the state, quoted to have said that he had increased sweepers' allowance in his area, from 10,000 naira to 20,000 naira. 

LAWMA, however, noted that the monthly salary of a sweeper is 25,000 naira irrespective of the local government area, adding that the welfare of sweepers is important to them. 

While stating that the well-being of its workforce remains a priority, the Authority noted its commitment to ensuring that Lagos state get rid of waste pollution and called on residents to play their own part properly
