Kwara and Niger to strengthen existing collaboration to ensure security in states

Government of Kwara and Niger state are to strengthen existing collaboration to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties in the states. 

This was disclosed by Special adviser political communication, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, stating that Kwara state Governor Abdulrasheed Abdulrazaq announced this at the state executive council meeting. 

The governor expressed concerns with reports of degradation of natural endowment by criminals in parts of Baruten local government, saying that he would reach out to government of Niger state for maximum security collaboration to put an end to criminal activities. 

He disclosed that both states accounted for 60 percent of Shea butter production in the country, regretting that deforestation activities by some of the criminal elements in parts of the state constituted serious danger to preservation of natural endowments.

Expressing concerns on the increase of exportation of firewood and charcoal ftom the state, Governor Abdulrazaq said that the state government will deepen mass enlightenment on the use of gas in place of firewood and charcoal to protect the forest. 

He stressed that the Governor's forum may need to work to being down the cost of cooking gas so as to make it more affordable to the people as a sustainable alternative to firewood.

He also charged newly sworn-in in members of the state executive council to team up with their colleagues in the council in strengthening governance and work towards meeting the expectations of the people of the state despite the dwindling resources.
