Borno state Governor Umaru Zulum has ordered the state police command to investigate the violent collusion between a joint security task force operating with the Borno geographic information system and some worshippers at a branch Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria (EYN), the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, at Maduganari, in Maiduguri. He condemned the firing of gunshots by a member of the security task force as well as persons who throwed stones at the task force during the encounter, which left one person died and five persons hospitalized. Spokesman to the governor, Isa Gusau stated that the governor commisserates with families of the person who died and those injured. Furthermore, Governor Zulum called the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Bishop Mohammed Naga, to sympathise with the Christian community and leadership and family of the EYN church in the state. He directed deputy governor, Umar Kadafur to visit the hospital where the injured persons are receiving treatment, to sympathize with them and take over the cost of their treatment. Recall that a collusion happened when officials of BOGIS, alongside a joint security task force went to church for regulation of land administration and urban development measures, some of which have affected worship centres (mosques and churches) built without obedience to laid down regulations. The BOGIS has so far demolished dozens of illegally built mosques and churches for ongoing reforms.
