Enugu state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has awarded scholarships, up to University level, to two students of Government Technical College (GTC), Nsukka, for the invention of locally manufactured aircraft and an MP3 radio set. One of the beneficial, Emmanuel Maduabuchi Chukwu, who hails from Nnewe in Aninri local government area, Enugu, built two locally made aircraft (helicopter and jet fighter). While the second student, Chukwuemeka Udoye, who hails from Aguata, Anambra state, manufactured a locally made MP3 radio set. The governor announced the scholarships when he received the two students at the government house in Enugu, on Tuesday, , to appreciate their talents, skills and sheer dexterity in promoting technology-based innovation in the state. He gave the inventor of the two aircraft, Chukwu, the sum of N1 million, while Udoye was given N500,000, for his production of the MP3 radio set, to enable them advance their inventions. Governor Ugwuanyi stated that he proud of the students abducted then many feats the education system has brought to the state since the inception of his administration, saying that every amount spent in education is a worthy investment. He also requested that the commissioner for education, prof. Uche Eze, to immediately present to the State Executive Council (EXCO), a memo for the approval of the sum of N100 million for the construction of classroom blocks in GTC, in the state. He equally directed the Executive Chairman of STVSMB, Dr. Ajah, to apply for the sum of N50 million for the construction of more technical workshops in GTCs Nsukka and Enugu, and also request for employment of additional technical teachers, for the EXCO's approval. Commissioner for Education, Prof. Eze thanked the governor of his efforts on education in the state as well as his gesture to the students to appreciate their talents.
