Governor of Edo state, H. E. Godwin Obaseki has assured the people of Edo state of his administration readiness to respond to the delta variant of COVID-19. The governor stated this, during an inspection of the state's Infectious Disease Isolation Center at Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin City, Edo state. Governor Obaseki said that the country is beginning to see an increasing number of cases of the Delta variant, which has become worrisome, and led them to undertake a thorough analysis and study of the situation, and use the information gathered to make decisions on the issues. According to him, One of the decisions to be made is the nature and preparation of facilities to receive patients for treatment in case we find ourselves in a difficult situation. The Delta variant is very contagious and spreads very wide, with a greater impact on those that are yet to be vaccinated. The governor added that he spoke with the national primary health care agency, and they are expecting about four million vials of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. He noted that the state is making arrangements to pick up it's own consignment and bring it to the state, so as to vaccinate more people.
